The March Flow - Mechi Newsletter

Hi Mechi Community,
It’s Women’s History Month - a time to celebrate the strong women who came before us, the ones shaping our communities today, and the ones we’re raising for the future.
But this month has also been making me think about something else: how we define strength.
For a long time, strength in the fitness world has been framed in a very specific way - pushing harder, doing more, going faster, lifting heavier. And while those things can absolutely be empowering, they’re not the only way strength shows up in our lives.
Strength can also look like showing up when your schedule is full.
Like carving out time for yourself between work, family, and everything else life throws your way.
Like choosing movement that supports your body instead of punishing it.
For many of us, strength is simply the ability to keep coming back, week after week.
At Mechi, that’s the kind of strength we care about.

Why Strength Matters Even More for Women
There’s another reason strength is worth talking about this month: women need strength training more than we’re often told, especially as we age.
As women get older, natural hormonal changes can lead to declines in muscle mass, bone density, and metabolic health. Strength training and resistance-based activities help counteract that by supporting:
Stronger bones and reduced osteoporosis risk
Better joint stability and injury prevention
Improved metabolism and energy levels
Long-term mobility and independence
In other words, strength isn’t just about performance — it’s about longevity.
And the good news is that strength doesn’t only come from lifting weights in a gym. Recreational sports, hiking, bodyweight movement, and activities that challenge your muscles all contribute to building strength over time.
One of the things I love most about the Mechi community is that strength shows up in so many forms.
It’s the woman trying soccer for the first time.
The mom carving out space for a weekly hike.
The friend who keeps showing up to the same walking group because it’s become part of her rhythm.
Strength doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be intense.
Sometimes it’s just the decision to move your body in a way that feels supportive and sustainable

If you’re looking for a place to start, here are a few ways to move your heart this month:
Mom’s Hiking and Walking Club: Join our new moms hiking and walking group for fresh air, light movement, and meaningful connection. This weekly reset is all about community, conversation, and showing up as you are.
Women’s Soccer Training Sessions: Beginner-friendly, welcoming, and focused on building confidence and connection—not perfection. Sessions run every Monday and Friday, and you don’t need prior experience to join.
Indoor Futsal: Fast, fun, and a great way to get out of your head after a long workday.
Winter Soccer League : A consistent weekly rhythm that creates community, movement, and a reason to log off and step away from work.
What’s the activity that gets you moving in a way you actually enjoy and how can you make it a consistent part of your week?
The Mechi app is designed to help you find that rhythm. Local partners. Community sessions. Activities that feel less like obligation and more like momentum.
This month, maybe strength doesn’t have to mean doing more. Maybe it just means continuing to show up — for your body, your health, and your community.
And if you’re still figuring out what movement looks like for you this season, that’s okay too.
At Mechi, we’re just here to help you find the version of strength that feels right for you.
