The May Flow - Mechi Newsletter

Hi Mechi Community,
First - we missed you in April.
We took a small pause from the newsletter last month, and honestly, it felt aligned with what we’ve been talking about all year: slowing down when needed, taking breaks without guilt, and making space to reset.
Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is step back for a moment instead of constantly pushing through. And in a month focused on mental health, that reminder feels especially important.
Even during that pause, though, one of the highlights of our month was being part of the Stanford My Heart Counts 5K. We were incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by the Mechi booth, shared their stories, and came out to support us.
Getting to connect with people in person always reminds me why Mechi exists in the first place.
So many conversations that day centered around the same feeling: people are craving ways to feel healthier, more connected, less stressed, and more present in their everyday lives. Not through extreme routines or pressure - but through simple, sustainable moments of movement and community.
And honestly, that connects so deeply to this month’s theme.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to live almost entirely in our heads.
Work, notifications, stress, responsibilities, endless tabs open - mentally and emotionally, a lot of us are carrying more than we realize. Even when life looks “fine” on the outside, it can still feel overwhelming internally.
One of the biggest things movement has taught me is that it’s not just about fitness - it’s about regulation.
A walk after work.
A soccer game with friends.
A weekend hike.
These moments help us reconnect to ourselves. They lower stress, improve mood, and give our brains a break from constant stimulation. And when movement happens in community, something shifts even more.
You laugh more. You breathe deeper. You stop thinking about your inbox for an hour.
Some of the best mental resets happen in the small in-between moments: the conversations before a hike starts, the laughs during water breaks, the post-game chats in the parking lot.
That’s part of what makes recreational movement so powerful for mental health. It combines movement, presence, and connection all in one place.
This month, I want to encourage all of us to think about movement differently - not as something we have to do, but as something that can support us emotionally, mentally, and socially.

If you’re looking for a place to start, here are a few ways to move your heart this month:
Mom’s Hiking and Walking Club: Fresh air, light movement, meaningful conversation, and a supportive community of women showing up for themselves and each other.
Women’s Soccer Training Sessions: Beginner-friendly, welcoming, and focused on building confidence and connection—not perfection. Sessions run every Monday and Friday, and you don’t need prior experience to join.
Community Hikes & Outdoor Meetups: Because sometimes the best mental reset is sunlight, movement, and being around good people.
Community Soccer Sessions
Open to all skill levels, these games are less about competition and more about getting outside, moving your body, and being part of a supportive community.
Wherever this month finds you mentally or emotionally, we hope you find moments that help you breathe a little deeper and feel a little lighter.
And if movement and community can help with that, we’ll be here waiting for you.
